Toormix is a Barcelona-based design studio specialising in branding, art direction, creativity and graphic design, set up in 2000 by Ferran Mitjans and Oriol Armengou. We carry out corporate identity, editorial, print, web and communication projects for a wide variety of clients, from small graphic pieces to global branding and communication projects.
Our way of working is based around strategic collaboration with the client. Starting from information and ideas, we develop a clear and coherent creative discourse in order to reach people through innovative and visually attractive design proposals.
At Toormix we play with brands, because playing means not being afraid, always going that bit further, taking on new challenges, questioning approaches, and blazing new paths.
Toormix. Playing with brands since 2000.
Research
Parallel to the projects for our clients, we work on our own line of visual and graphic research. Proposals that help us discover new ways of working to then apply to real projects. Take a look at them in the “Self” section of this website.
Teaching
We have directed and coordinated the intensive course on art direction Dd'A at Ramon Llull University (2 editions) and Bau School of Design in Barcelona (3 editions), and we have participated as guest lecturers at Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), CEDIM (Monterrey, Mexico), Bau School of Design, Elisava School of Design, IDEP, Felicidad Duce School of Design and Fashion, and Ramon Llull University, among others.
What we do
At Toormix we develop creative projects in four main areas of communication and design:

Art direction
We work on projects following an original, creative and declinable conceptual line. We understand art direction as a tool at the service of ideas, working for the coherence of visual codes to make the final product more identifiable and effective.

We understand communication as the keystone of effective brand building. It is the combination of powerful design and the way the brand reaches its target.
- Creative direction
- Corporate websites (product or image)
- Microsites
- Communication in social networks
- Communication manuals
- Integrated campaigns
How we like to work
We like working with notebooks.
For us, listening, getting to know the client, their experience and their interests, is fundamental for defining a work plan that meets their real needs.
We approach each project as a new challenge
in which we seek visual strength, novelty and differentiation through creative work.
We avoid using anything that doesn’t add something to the project;
we don’t like to fill in space for the sake of it. For Toormix the best ideas have a clear discourse and a visual execution that is clean, coherent and easy to remember.
We’re not content to just read the brief.
We analyse it, we work on it, we discuss it, and if necessary we question it. All with a view to producing a coherent and valuable proposal that ensures that the investment is worthwhile.
We have over 10 years’ experience as a team,
in which we have worked on more than 100 projects at home and abroad. This has brought us to be increasingly demanding with our results and with ourselves, making every project a new opportunity.
We work on a wide range of projects,
from small pieces to global communication and corporate identity projects. Projects for clients of all sizes in all sectors: companies, institutions and agencies.
A project doesn’t always have strong economic backing.
We make an effort to adapt the budget to needs, and we are flexible, especially when projects allow us to innovate and evolve.
We insist on details,
on choosing the right materials and processes to achieve a properly finished project. We do so for the client, for their brand, and because it’s the way we are; at this stage in the game there’s nothing we can do to change that! ;-)
